Diesel misfire cause?
Just looking at a SDI polo (non turbo diesel) as a runabout. Someone local is selling one cheap (scrap price + 100 ) that he bought with a misfire and
smoking on idle. The person he bought from thought it was an injector problem. The smoke and misfire go away at higher revs, and apparently the car
is ok to drive. The new seller says its not the injector but he doesnt know what it is. Any ideas for what I should look for?
Regards
Hugh

Has an injector leak-back test been done ?
A leaky injector usually shows at lows revs, at higher revs it still misbehaves but isn't as obvious.
I always start with the cheap/free option
