Crunching sound in the diff

Hi All i have a crunching sound in my sierra LSD and i would like to know how big a job is it to repair it and how much will it cost for the parts .
How much will it cost me to have it repaired by a firm and who would you recommend to do it .

OR is it best to just fit another diff
The car is off the road until i get it sorted

I guess it depends what diff it is?
Most of the open diffs, unless you want 314/338 are small money, certainly less I would have thought than any starting price for just looking at one proffesionally
