Ideas Please - Radiator Filler Cap
In my R1 powered Indy I've got the rad from the bike with the filer cap on the left as you look from the front of the car.
I'm at the point of putting the bodywork on the car and I've just noticed that it's going to be really hard to top up the water in
the rad because the filler cap is tucked away towards the front of the nose cone and you can't really get to it.
I'd rather not cut a whole in the nose cone, so I think an expansion tank is going to be the order of the day.
I'm just keen to know what is everyone else doing when it comes to topping up / checking the water level?
If anyone has successfully fitted an expansion tank to an R1 rad - how did you do it?
Cheers

You could get an inline filler neck that fits into the hoses.

Just make the nose cone removable the same as the bonnet, some locating pins at the bottom and Duis fasteners up top?

I hinged the nose cone, easier to get at anything under.

I made one by unsoldering the fitting from an old copper rad then soldered into a short piece of scrap 1" copper pipe.

It's standard practice to fit an expansion/header tank on BECs. Ours can be seen on the top left in the picture below.

On our indy R1 we fitted an expansion tank on the bulkhead
See waterworks layout in our archive.
Good luck.
