Air filter help please

hi all ,

nearly there with my car just the last things on the list now.

one is the air filter, thought maybe a fresh pair of eyes might help as im struggling to find somewhere to put it in all fairness

car is on road so not needed to be IVA safe, also didnt really want it outside the bodywork, got enough of that allready

few pics to illustrate the problem with and without bodywork and a view down into the nose area

any ideas would be great, turbo outlet is 76mm 3"

Can a K&N with an angled inlet not fit in there? Something like this?

was looking at something like this

http://www.knfilters.co.uk/search/product.aspx?Prod=RU-5111

waiting for some inlet hose thats flexible so i can see where i can get the filter to interms of bending, its very tight under there and i need access to the filler of the dry sump tank too

Sorry, but if you just stick a filter on where it is you will do is introduce hot air, defeat the intercooler and restrict boost to stop pinking under load

It looks like you need a NASA duct in the nose cone and a sealed filter going forward unless you can take a 90 degree bend off the end and ingest air via a NASA duct behind the wishbones.

I would also be inclined to try and lag then intercooler hoses; this is one of those decisions where function has to take precedent over form.

Thanks mark,

Was looking at running the filter right down the front not near the turbo

Regards the pipework what is best to cove them in? Just normal exhaust wrap or that tape stuff?

Great quality looking build, what exhaust manifold and turbo is that? It looks BIG

If you can not get to the front with the filter to grab cool air, then I would say duct from the bonnet
into the turbo.

Thanks,

Had the manifold custom made to the car, turbo is a gt2871rs

I've ordered a k&n tonight think I'll squeeze it down in the nose

Then onto heat management issues!
