new engine and new reg

okay so I have seen this on the bay

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-0L-Zetec-Black-Top-Engine-Zetec-R-135-BHP-Phase-3-Kit-Car-Race-Brand-New-/290776465532?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_S M&hash=item43b3a0c07c

Do I need an engine number? Or should I be concerned by this?

I want to get a new reg when the car is built

Alternativly what do you need to prove an engine us new?

There is also an unwanted new engine originally bought from gbs.

I don't think any of the 'new' crate engines have engine numbers.

To get a new car reg you will need to prove ALL the parts for your kit were new, you may also be subjected to the full IVA which has other implications as this engine might not pass the latest emissions regs.
From the ebay ad it looks like it comes with all paperwork so you can prove it to be a new engine.
Don't understand what you mean by needing an engine number, if it has one then no problems if it doesn't you'll be issued with a number when you get issued with VIN number
I had a kit registered as a new vehicle in the past and the vin and engine numbers were the same.

As dingz says I don't think the Ford crate engines come with the engine number stamped as that gets done on the production line (Vin/engine numbers are allocated 15min before production of that vehicle begins)

When i built my hood to get a vin number and age related plate i needed to show the engine number on the pinto matched the old sierra log book.

Wasn't sure if no engine number would cause an issue, i guess not if none of the crate engines have numbers.

An full IVA, really. I didn't think it applied to kits.
