Drive belt tensioner - ecotec

Hi

Having some issues with the missus zafira, the drive belt is now squealing like most of the time now so I got a new belt, unfortunately I cannot get the the tensioner to move back as per the manual as putting a spanner on the idler puller to lever it back as it seems to say just undo's the bolt, it's mega tight. Can't see an other area to lever the arm back so gave up. I the pivot of the arm looks rather swollen with rust and I suspect the damn thing has seized however I don't want to remove the arm for fear some huge spring flying out.

Anyone know how to sort this?

Thanks

Have you tried pushing on the belt making the tensioner ease off? If it's siezed then you will need a new tensioner , it's probably held on with 2 or 3 8mm bolts
