Zetec Blacktop Engine Height

Does anyone know how high a black top 1.8 or 2.0l blacktop engine should sit? off the cam belt on the top of the cams to the top chasis rails? if that makes any sense to anyone except me lol.

On mine a Silvertop fitted with cam belt covers as Ford intended and just touched the nose cone. That gave 3" of ground clearance under the Dunnell sump and bellhousing which is about the absolute sensible minimum.

When I fitted the Blacktop there was no way I could leave the cam belt covers on and get the same ground clearance. The front of the covers is a good inch higher than the Silvertop one. Removed covers and fitted Silvertop cam cover and using the same Dunnell sump ground clearance is identical.

I could have used the Blacktop cam cover but it needed the part where the front cover fits removing, had a Silvertop one which looks way better and needs no mods.

Some would have just raised the ride height but it would have looked like a crop spraying tractor and had handling to match.
