Re-fitting Pinto Sump
Hi Folks,
Just in from garage as have a bit of a problem!
Just re-fitting the sump and looking through Heynes it says in addition to a new gasket I need to use 'sealing compound' to go around where the
gasket goes. Is this really the case? Is it really needed?
I don't have any 'sealing compound' whatever the hell that actually is but I may have some of the stuff that you can bodge make/seal gaskets with.
Will this work?
Bear in mind it's a two piece cork gasket with two rubber strips to go over the crank.
Any help very greatfully recieved,
Thanks, James

you are suposed to put sealing compound,i use some black gunge from fiat where the gasket joins the rubber seals,a bit of dollop elsewhere on the
gaskets just holds them in place

I take it you have chopped the sump a bit then since your re-fitting.
