There is a Bosch auxillary water pump fitted to VW's that are very good, I'll try and find the link or part number.

I believe some Volvos also used an electrical pump

What you need is a boat central heating pump.
I kid you not! These cool my engines and ancillaries beautifully.

Simply visit your local chandlers, or plenty on the web.

fesycresy, are you referring to the small electrical pump that keeps the water moving when the engine is off? I didn't think it was powerful enough to use as a standalone pump?

This is what is on the side of my engine;

The VAG pumps can't be used for cooling an engine on their own.

They only circulate enough coolant to cool the engine and turbo after the engine is turned off (if that's what you intend on using it for, it's ideal).

Yes that's what I'm wanting,

Next how can I keep it running after the engine is killed? Can you get timer relays or something like that?

You will need a controller, a mate of makes a programmable ones ( runs till a preset cooldown temp has been reached) but a cheap option would be a timer kit from Maplins or similar

I don't know because I get his things free as I do the R & D testing for him, I will ask for you. It programs via a lappie or pc and only works when it needs to, i'e wont run till a temp is reached or turn off when a temp is reached. Had it on test for the last 18 months now, its running my main coolant pump and the fan, but maplins would be cheaper they do a timer which I have used before on the car for £7.99, if you arent too good at making stuff and you want one, I will build it for you for a few quid?.
