Fireblade engine mounting angles ?!?

Hi again guys.

I'm busy fabricating subframe for my blade engined mini.

The engine is getting mounted side to side ie cylinders running width of engine bay

My question is how critical is the angle that the engine is mounted at. For instance could it be tipped back ( carbs towards the mini bulkhead )
Could it be tipped forward ( headers towards the front of the mini ) as these options would give more space.

Just concerned if I do change the angle that I may have probs with oil surge etc.

I suppose Honda would have taken central feudal force into consideration when they designed the engine and realised that oil would be pulled back during acceleration p

Thanks Alan

One of the things we concentrate on here is getting them mounted with the sump dead flat as surge is a big problem in a BEC
, I also preach forgetting that they are a bike engine - as once installed in the car all the rules governing its original application have changed. A classic symptom of this is that some bike engines seem to breathe heavier when used in a car. This has nothing to do with the motor just the fact that we now have 4 points of contact with loads more grip and normally an LSD which means the car driver works at WOT far more than the bike and it is here where the pumping losses, blow past etc is more prevalent. The biggest tip with themn is to think about each component and its implication

Put it in with the sump gasket horizontal

Blades ride fine up and down quite steep hills so as long as it isn't at silly angles should be fine.

Use the writing on the gearbox as the level that's the same as the sump bottom.

I used a spirit level magnet stuck to the gearbox case sat level to the writing....
