where is the CVH coil
hi
excuse me be again making questions about that engine, but I can´t see where is the coil of that motor.
we can see 4 cables connected with the distributor, but where is the coil? is built-in inside the distributor? or how does it work?
I attach a pic because I saw there are several types of that CVH engines. this one came out from a 1.6 Sierra Estate of 1990 .
thanks

ok, a member sent me a U2U telling that what I thought was the distributor is actually the coil.
so, this works more or less like the 3-cylinder Smart car, that has a coil for each cylinder, but in this CVH that piece is a quadruple coil?
that's it?

I think that is a coil pack. I don't think any CVH engines had a distributer on the side of the block.

That does indeed not have a distributor it runs an edis set up (electronic distributor less ignition system).
I've only seen one other like that. Most of them still had an ecu for the advance but also ran a dizy cap and coil to dish out the sparks.
There is a trigger wheel on the front crank pulley with a vr sensor in the aluminium cam belt cover casing. As long as you have the "ecu"
from the wing you will be fine.
The coil pack contains two coils and they fire the plugs in pairs, one on the exhaust stroke and is known as a wasted spark.
Much better than a distributor

That is a CFI unit single point injection in to the 'carb'. It is the coil connected to the plugs, there is no distributor. That would
require a change to megajolt and something like bike carbs if you want to ditch the inlet manifold as it is.

Why do I have to make the tools to finish the job? More time then money.
