Vauxhall 3000 24v straight six?

I have an option on a twin cam straight six from a Carlton 3000 GSi including 5 speed manual box.

Does anyone have any experience of these lumps? 200+ bhp and it sounds lovely. I am tempted to put it in the Griffon.

What thoughts from the collective?

My mate had one of them cars it was fast, I mean very very quick indeed.

The rozzers used them as well so in a light car I would say warp speed is in the offing

Not a bad engine, but always eclipsed tuning wise by the popularity of the redtop XE and the LET.

Watch out for the cam chains breaking; a known weakness on the 24V engines.

Further info can be found at Autobahnstormers.

Other than that, it is a lovely engine. I had one in my Senator.

height may be an issue.

I had a 3L senator for a while (and yes, it was great fun watching it part the lanes on the motorway when people thought it was a police car).

The 3L engine was silky smooth and could push a senator around with only a 3 speed slush box, it had that much torque.

If you can make it fit, it's a great engine. In-line 6s do seem to be very smooth (I also once had a triumph 2500s, and that was gorgeous).
