Jubilee clips or correct fuel clips

I am finishing off the fuel plumbing but can't get the correct fuel clips for the pipes. Halfords don't sell them - only do jubilee clips.

Do I really need the correct fuel clips for Mr SVA and where can I get them?

Definately - this is a known SVA fail point. Ordinary jubilee clips can distort the pipe and allow fuel to leak.

I saw the things in my local Halfords on Saturday - but too small for the tube I'm using. Good place for 'Max Power' add on rubbish, or crappy bikes, but no good for really useful stuff.

Try local 'real' motor parts supply shops, or mail order from the usual suspects.

halfords do the clips with the pipe on a shrink wrap card - but no clips on their own I think.

Got mine from europa spares.

Absolutely need to be the right type as David says.

Most of the cars that I've seen that have passed the SVA, including my own, use jubillee clips on the fuel lines.

Mine too, although 14 months is a long time in SVA. Regs change almost weekly!

depends on what you mean by a jubilee clip.

these things look like a jubille clip.

However, they are a different design such that they have a plain metal band that slips under the top part to keep the radius essentially constant.

Small JUBILEE clips tend to oval when tightened. Its easy to take a peek in Halfords to see the type.


Take it from me, I have seen instances of cars failing on TOL becuase they didnt use the correct clips.

I'm sure that many will pass with jubilee clips - but it's a risk to use them. The fewer risks the better!

The reason I asked to confirmwas due to "a race car is born" using standard (jubilee) hose clips and the fact I couldn't get them locally.

I have just ordered them from www.trackstore.co.uk (very friendly man on the end of the phone and a fairly good website too). £1.70 for a pack of 5. Ordered a pack of each size just to be sure. You can never have too many!!!

If you watched the SVA test in "A Car is Born" then you wouldn't trust anything on that programme! (it was a farce... I spotted several fail points just watching the TV).

That programme is just for entertainment, as far as I'm concerned.

I have watched just a tiny bit of those programs, and to me it was car building for plebs.

Just like top gear many years ago when they used to do a job on a cr that wasnt oily at all and in their normal clothes.

its not real life.

I didnt see him in a cramped garage with bugger all resources and having to do it all from first principles.
