mp62 Eaton Supercharger?

I have an MP62 supercharger for my MX5 engine.

The kit is made with a throttle body on the supercharger and a dummy throttle body to replace the OE TB on the inlet. The supercharger fits above the exhaust manifold so there is a long way to go through the intercooler before it gets to the inlet. This leads to sluggish throttle response and idle droop/stall.

To help with throttle response it is common to use another TB on the inlet and link them together. This helps if you get the balance right but also leads to a build of unwanted heat at part throttle and often more noise when not WOT. At WOT it's loud whatever you do. Not necessarily a bad thing!

So to the burning question....

What if I remove the TB from the supercharger and just run one in the original position on the inlet manifold?

Apart from the noise on part throttle is there any reason why not?

I would use the standard throttle body an intercooler and a dump vale to prevent the charger stalling.

Isn't that how the Rotrex supercharger works?

My MP62 ran like this a few weeks ago when the charge throttle body on the supercharger failed and jammed open. It went really well for 10 laps or so before it seized and snapped the belt. I also found that the hose for the bypass had split so that can't have helped. Neither did I have a dump valve. :-(

What I did notice was much improved throttle response with no lag.

Thoughts or experience welcome.

Thanks Jacko

I was there running without the charger.

I have seen the Road Runner racing car before. It runs the standard set up od TB on charger and dummy on inlet.

To be honest I have never seen an Eaton charger set up where there isn't a throttle on the charger.

I just need to find out if you can just run an inlet throttle body and use a dump valve without destroying the charger again.
