kv6 cam belt
Hi i set off today to change water pump and cam belts etc on my mg zt knew it would be a pig but cannot get the front plate off and dont know why any
advice pics wellcome.

Probably one of the worst timing belt jobs going even when you've done a few ,a stupid way of timing an engine.

Yes but I chickened out. Its said to be slightly easier in the smaller Mg zs180.
I did buy (and sell) the tools and they are daft money. Your not doing it with out are you ?

It's not a pleasant job but it's the best possible (i.e. most accurate) way of timing an engine, which is why so many modern engines
don't have pulleys that are keyed to the cams. Obviously being a 'V' engine things are more complex than the average inline 4.
It took me about 4-5 hours to do the belts on my ZS180, but that was going very slowly and methodically. You absolutely must use the correct
locking/setting tools to do this job however, you don't have a chance in hell of getting it accurately timed without (i.e. no bodging it with
tippex marks).
