cbr900 gear selector shaft problem?!?!
im nearing completeion on my front engined mini with cbr900 engine. The engine is an 893 blade engine but I am having a small clearance issue.
the problem is I am running the engine the right way round ie. headers at the front of the car and I am running the chain infront and underneath of
the gear selector shaft around the diff sprocket then back up behind the gear selector shaft and around the gearbox sprocket.
everything is working great in theory however I am concerned that I might get a bit whip in the loose side of the chain which means with my set up the
part of the gearbox casing that the gear selector shaft enters may get a bit of a chewing from the chain.
I have a few questions relating to this issue.
1. would a hard nylon bushing/sleeve around the gear selector shaft last as protection of would it just get chewed up in 5 mins ?
2. where does the oil seal on said shaft sit in relation to the point of entry of the shaft as if it sat way back then I could cut away around 15mm of
the ali casing thus giving plenty clearance from the chain the the actual shaft/
just to clarify the shaft isnt the part causing the problem if the part of the casing that the shaft enters.
I know someone on here will have had on of these engines apart that can help me.
TIA ALAN

surely if the chain is the right tension you shouldn't have any issue.

Preventative maintenance then me thinks :-)
I assume you can adjust the chain easy enough if need be. If it hits the casing you defo need to tighten it...
