Bike carbs fuel pump

Considering bike carbs, do I need to use bike pump or can I carry on with my pinto mechanical pump?

Bike fuel pump as it runs at the right pressure and stops pumping when the carbs are full

You can run your pinto fuel pump but it will need a regulator to bring it down to 2PSI (most webber/delorta regulators are around the 5-6PSI). I ran a facet posi flow pump and petrol king regulator with bike carbs on a 2.0l Zetec withut any problems.

Hope this helps.

Cheers all. Think I will just stick with my dellortos, adding it up I'll need to chuck best part of £500 at danst engineering and still need to get it setup, or I could just get someone to rejet and setup my dellortos.

Ive just fitted bike carbs in place of twin 40's
I took the plunge and bought a manifold kit off ebay for £50 and welded it up myself
Got my bike carbs with tps for £40 , i spaced then to make 2x2 so the inlets were equal
Drilled my mains out to 1.7 as a base to start at
Pulled the choke, started first time and idled at 1200,900 off choke
Ive not balanced or jetted them properly yet, just chucked em on and it runs smoother than the dcoes ever did
No stink of fuel in the garage either
I used a bike pump and fitted 10mm fuel lines too , they really play up if the pressures wrong
Cost me £30 which is less than a regulator and i know its right
I did it over the winter along with an engine upgrade,so i just plodded through it
I certainly wouldnt go spending 3-400 for someone else to do it
Its pretty easy to do

Problem is I can't weld to a good enough standard to weld my own manifold.

Price I quoted was an all in package for a bolt on ready to run kit including manifold, carbs, filter, pump, jets etc. if I was going to do it I would go that way. I won't at that price though.

My welding was like bird sh*t ,amazing what a grinder and a bit of seam sealer covers
Bogg bros seem to average at about £350 for their bolt on setups
As much as i loved my side draughts the bike carbs, for every day use ,are far better
I hope to get more than my total outlay back on the sale of my webers
You would obviously be able to do the same

I have ZX6R carbs on my Zetec and no welding was involved at all. I used the same rubber manifolds that they use on the bike.

The only specialist bit is a bit of turning to make up the fuel rail that allows the carbs to be re-spaced. The rest is drilling, filing, bending and bolting together.
