Bosch Fuel Pump Problem

Hi Guys,

I've got a bosch fuel pump gravity fed from a swirl pot.
It's this one:

Anyway, i'm not getting any fuel out of it at all.
I primed the swirl pot first to make sure it had plenty of fuel supply, and again the pump is underneath so is gravity fed.

I have the intake hose into the large metal inlet, and the output is the black plastic one.

Just to check i'm not going mad either, i have live to the 8mm connection and earth to the 7mm.

So i can hear the pump spinning, so definitely getting the power fine, but it refuses to take any fuel and pump it through.

There is definitely fuel ready for the pump, it started peeing out everywhere the second i loosened the fuel clamp on the hose.

So, is the fuel pump buggered? How can i tell??
Damn, was just about to try my first start of the engine

Cheers,
Andy

Has it blown any fuses previous to this ?

As long as it hasn't run dry they're usually pretty reliable, although a mate had one of these fail on him and it was brand new straight out of the box, So was replaced under warranty.

Sounds like its running backwards, swap the wires over and try again.

i have always found with these is if they spin, they pump

have had on that had sucked a bit of muck from the tank and locked up though...... if you ever get one that is bust and take it apart, you will see lots of reasons to have a strainer on the front end!

I'd love to give my imaginary friend a great big hug,

but this jacket makes it impossible.
