Type 9 Oil Leak...

Well clocked up 380 miles and the gearbox oil leak is getting a bit worse.... I am getting a small drip off the bell housing flywheel end and a drip where the bell housing mates to the gearbox... I have converted the gearbox to hydraulic so I suspect the leak is on the nose... Anyone know these gearboxes well enough to take a guess at the likely issue... A lot of work whipping the engine out....

Is it defiantly gear box oil? dose the oil smell like gear oil strong smell Have you over filled the box ?
It could be engine oil leaking from the crank shaft oil seal ?

Pretty sure it is gearbox oil.... Fairly sure it isn't overfilled.... Also because the oil is coming off the box where the bell housing mounts to the box the oil would need to go up hill...

I am sure there is a hole that is blocked off with a ball bearing has that come out if you have had the box /bell apart ?
and there should be a gasket between the box and bell housing

Could one of the 4 bolts be coming out and letting oil out the box
I think it may be time to have the engine out
Sorry
Thinking about it i have a box in the garage i can look at tomorrow night to see if there is any thing obvious

Commonest leak is the bellhousing to gearbox face. There is a gasket between the two but cut a new one and use goo on both sides when assembling.

When I have oil coming out of my bell housing, it was the sump gasket that was the issue....

Dropped of the sump, while moving, on to the fly wheel, round the bell housing, and down onto the ground.

Not the case it it smells of gear oil, but another option!

Hi i have just had a look at my spare box and the only place i can see where it may leak is out the tube that the clutch thrust bearing slides up and down [ oil seal behind ] or where the gear selector rod is
