type 9 gear lever

hi. after a lot of faracas im decided im going to use the type 9 gearboxs currently serving as a tripping hazard in my workshop. problem is it has no lever, just an open hole.
what to do? where to get parts etc? also measured it up before and the 'ole sits a bit too far forward for my liking. know westfield do an extension kit but bit pricey for my liking. any suggestions?
thanks all.

see you in exeter

Have a look at this site, it details a DIY extension. I have done this to mine and it works after a bit of trial and error with the length and the reverse thingy (frantically searching for a technical term!!)

http://www.dwjenkins.plus.com/gear_extend.htm

Reverse detent - technical term found!

He supplied all my donor bits.

You can get the exstension for £65 brand new, pricey for a few bits of metal!

Ben,

Is normandy auto salvage the place just on the aldershot road, just out of guildford. it is just down the road from me, but as of yet i've not had the need to visit!!

James is the man i nthe know about local scrappies. The one I used to use is down near billingshurst (adversane vehicle dismantlers) also bridges over at pease pottage, crawley way, quite big though can be expensive..

Ned.
