type 9 gearbox noisy and jumping out fifth

Hi
Right, took my lad to school this morning in the car. Noticed on way back it was noisy in fifth and when off the throttle jumped out of 5th gear. All other gears work fine. Its a type 9 with quaife internals straight cut close ratio thingy. My understanding was it was meant to be noisy in 1-3, quiet in 4,5 and r. Hoping this is something simple and not rebuild. Was going to sell this, but will have to put right first. Ay ideas

The Tran-x straight cut gear set that I had in my MK1 Escort was (very) noisy in all gears apart from 4th (which is a 1:1 ratio). Sounds like you may have an issue if yours is noisy in 4th. Get the lid off and have a look for anything obvious......

Sorry, don't think ive explained it right.
Gearbox noisy in 1,2,3,5. Quiet in 4. If that's how its meant to be, happy days...
Problem is then just it jumps out of fifth.......

Just spoke to quaife and they said same, quiet in forth. However they said sounds like syncho or dog worn depending which I have. No idea, so I'm sending a photo of the internals so they can quote a price to fix.....
