Weld on sump plug boss & plug
Hi
I'm looking for a source of weld on sump plug boss, needing about 12 of them! So cost is an issue. It's not engine or gearbox related and
not subject to high pressures or loads so I'm not too bothered about quality, they just need to be oil tight and around 1/2 inch bore and mild
steel
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Use weld in mild steel lambda bosses and blanking plugs with a copper washer?
I'm a bilingual illiterate. I can't read in two languages.

Do you think I can I weld 304 stainless with mild steel flux wire? I have welded various stainless plates to mild steel before and only noticed a bit
more sparks but the welds where just fine.
I see some from an ebay company Profusion that sells bosses for a couple of quid made from stainless and their blanking plugs are a couple of quid to.

thanks it's a good idea but M10 may be a bit small as I'm pouring in about 90 ltrs of oil, need something around hose pipe bore or
I'll be there all day
Thanks for the offer r1_pete, I'll see how I get on buying the whole lot in a oner first though

Go to a plumbing supplier and get 6 off 3/8" BSP sockets and cut them in half. ( = 12 )
From the same buy 12 off 3/8" BSP hex head plugs.
Thats the same thread as on gas reg outlets. ( argon oxygen etc )
