Keihin Carbs
Recently acquired some bike carbs, for fitting to a Zetec 1.6. Don't know what bike they come from, so can anyone enlighten me?
Other than noting these are Keihin, and was told they had been previously fitted to a Zetec, I have no more info. Would apreciate anything to add to
my meagre knowledge.

as above you really need to measure the choke size
40mm chokes would be right for a ZX9R B, C or F (the E's use different ones)
the early models didn't have TPS sensors
36mm chokes would be right for some of the earlier ZX6R's
the 36mm ones would probably be about right for a 1.6 engine

40mm could also be ZZR1100, 38mm ZXR750

Thanks all, for your replies. I'll get those chokes measured up tomorrow.

They are ZZR1100 carbs, may be a tad on the large side for 1.6. Give it a blast and try. Mains are 1.5mm

Thanks for your advice (and also from teegray19). Chokes are 40mm (actually more like 41mm!!). So can we definitely conclude these carbs are
from a ZZR1100?
Next question - What is function of that top, grey-coloured tubular rail?

its the vent for the float bowls, if you were to fill the floats with fuel then blow through the pipe the fuel would overflow from there.
if your going to turbo them - you have to give that tube boost pressure

This might help:
zzrs
The tops are different because these were restricted ZZR1100 carbs, yours have full height un restricted tops/

Those inlets look almost identical to mine. But your captions worryme. Water junk?? Does this cater for any moisture in the fuel? Or am I missing
something? Otherwise, thanks for the pic, hoping it will be useful - when I get the prep plan under way.

The referred to water junk pipes are not needed for a kit car set up. They are carb preheaters that is connected to the coolant system on the bike.
Remove all pipes and fittings to make your carbs like abit neater.
They are zzr1100 carbs, but a Haynes manual, this wi give you all the info

Yeah sorry should have explained better, as above they are carb heaters to prevent icing in some situations on the bike, I never had a problem without
them on the car, the new owners have put 25K miles on without issues....

They look more like ZZR600 carbs to me, spacing will be 75-95-75. But that said they would only be 37mm diameter? The airbox/trumpets are 100% ZZR600
(later model). As far as I know ZZR1100 would have larger straight trumpets and be spaced 75-86-75.

Thanks for the feedback; with FASTDan's contribution, its getting really interesting!
That tip re Haynes manual - will have to investigate further.

Following your very interesting and informative input, (big thanks for that), I checked the choke centres on these carbs. Their spacing measures
76-96-76, measured with a steel rule (so there might be a small variation due to my eyesight!!). However, the choke dia is definitely 40mm, (measured
at butterfly side). Having also noted your observation on the airbox trumpets, am wondering if I should re-measure the choke at the inlet side. Or did
Kawasaki uprate their ZZR600 carbs from 37mm to 40mm, maybe for a larger version of the engine?

Err ..........NO!!! Re-Re-measurement, (with the correct device, this time), gives the choke dia as 37mm, still at the butterfly side. So it
seems like your view, that these carbs are from ZZR600, is correct. Great info!
