Can a cracked head be repaired?
As per the title really! My jeep cherokee 2.5td has a crack between 2 valves, into the water jacket. Can this be repaired at all? It's proving
difficult finding a head or full engine on the cheap!
Cheers.

Drill the ends of the crack, grind out the drack, tig it up, grind flat and polish could be possible, if you can find someone to do it...
Alloy heads?

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

I think it's ally with steel inserts for the valves. It spans the complete 10mm gap between the intake and exhaust valves on cylinder 2.
Obviously the valve seat makes it harder. Don't think you'd be able to get to the back of the crack in the water jacket to weld up that
side either. It's a bit of a polava and the wife just wants a car back!

Some of the jeeps use the same engine as the ldv vans these heads can be brought for as little as £100 complete have fitted a few of them over the
years.

Fortunately not doing it myself, and my mate has already been moaning about how much they cost from jeep. Think he managed to borrow some!
