Vodafone

There is a fault with the mast in the centre of town and it has been like this for several months

nobody can call our office mobiles - it just goes straight to voicemail and texts take a long time to get through. there is no data and it can take 3-4 attempts at least to make a call - sometimes it just wont work at all. I have a full strength signal showing by the way.

Does anyone here work for vodafone and can tell me how to get them to fix it? there is a long thread on the vodafone forum about it and tempers are running high.

Useful suggestions?

Cheers

M

Do you have an address / postcode for it?
I work for Ericsson Field Ops, we maintain all the mobile networks. I'll see what I can find out.

In most cases 3 and EE are the same HW and use the same transmission, hence why they'd both go down together.

Is it the 3G that's the problem?

I got the following answer for you-

'Done a history search and Council Car park has had a lot of issues for the last month with 3G, it is Nortel and spares are difficult to get hold of.
Tech has access booked for the morning liasing with Support and has a new XCEM card'

So, if this was the site causing the issue then hopefully it could be sorted tomorrow.

Our Vodafone business manager managed to get us a booster which plugged into the network and used the Internet connection for our work mobiles.

Maybe this would be a better solution??

I can't give you any details as one of my engineers sorted it out for me.

I have the same from EE. The 'optimised' my local masts, which meant they turned masts off that they felt were being covered by others. Needless to say, it turned most of my village off (2 miles as the crow flies from Southampton city centre) and so I couldn't evenm send a text in my front room (EE website was saying I should have had 4G). After hounding them (they kepot denying a problem) - and spoke to the engineer, who told me in 15s that they had turned off the mast in my area and therefore I was eligible for support from EE. They offered to allow me to walk away from my contract (but send back the handset), or to provide a wifi box to boost the signal. Now I get 3G in my house which will do me until my contract runs out in February.

I didn't try to put it on GSM only so can't confirm if it was just the 3G this time. It has happened before though.

I imagine that will be the site, thank you - it will be great if it gets fixed in the morning

Cheers

Mark
