Combined radiator and oil cooler
Hi all
I'm looking at packaging and weight saving for my Striker rebuild.
Has anybody successfully used a combined radiator and oil cooler? I was thinking of something like a Discovery rad -
LANDROVER DEFENDER/DISCOVERY 200 / 300 TDI 1989 ON RADIATOR NEW-2 YEAR WARRANTY
It would make packaging better if if would fit and could result in a weight saving. I'm assuming that there would be heat bleeding across from
the water to the oil so could help in warming the oil more quickly from start up(like a Laminova cooler)
Or I could be talking boll#@ks!
Any thoughts?
Wyn

Ford use a oil to water cooler that sandwiches between the oil filter and the block. Plumb it in on the engine side of the thermostat and bobs your
uncle
Cheers!
You'd be surprised how quickly the sales people at B&Q try and assist you after ignoring you for the past 15 minutes when you try and start a

Caterham use one of those as part of their sigma 150 upgrade, modine oil cooler, plumbs into the coolant circuit.

The Mercedes 190E radiator that many of the Haynes Roadster guys use has an oil cooler built in.
eBay Item
Its upside down in those ebay pictures, the red caps are on the oil filter in/out.

I got rid of my ford oil to water sandwich plate as it did not keep the oil temps down on track.
It was fine when i was still getting used to the car.

Myself and another guy on here have used TX1 taxi radiators. They have two connections on the bottom that I assume are oil coolers but they are used
on mine.

I wish this post come up about 6 months ago. I paid a fortune for a RD water rad and seperate oil cooler. £350 all in I think.
Still I think the seperate ones are a good idea. One stone and these combined ones are done.
