Zetec Expansion Tank
Looking at expansion/header tanks for my zetec blacktop.
It seems as though alot of people fit the VW header tank to the fury but what I don't know is if this has a pressure cap fitted, do I need one
for the zetec (I think so) and is it the correct pressure for the zetec system?
sorry should have said using a Polo rad without a cap
Thanks

Just fit either a Renault Clio or Rover 25 tank as they are much easier to mount.
New Renault tanks complete with cap are cheap as chips on ebay.
Pressure depends on max running temp before the coolant boils in other words don't get to worried about cap presures if you are running a modern
rad and your hoses are in good shape and your fan cuts in before 112c.

I got one off a newish Corsa in the scrappy, correct size bottom hose and two feeds up top near the cap for running bleeds to the rad and thermo
housing.
Has a pressure cap up top and worked fine on my car.

I used a volvo 740/960 one on my fury, great shape for bulkhead fitting, like this one -
GENUINE VOLVO 740, 960 (1991) EXPANSION TANK
Pictures of it installed here

As for the pressure cap, look in the mondeo Haynes manual but I guess it should be something like 1.2 - 1.3 bar

Great, thanks all. Renault Clio tank purchased from the bay £8.50 comes with cap too.
Any recomendations for places to get reasonable silicone hoses?

Be careful with silcone hose under pressure it blows off hose stubs much more readily than conventional rubber hose, so make sure any fittings have
retaining lip or barb on the hose spigots.

Yes I had heard that. I intend to have barbs on all the connections to make sure but places seem to charge a fortune just to put a bead in the end of
an Ali pipe

Nice, looks good. I just need to get some ali tubing to connect the top of the rad to the thermostat housing and some smaller pipe work for the header
tank and breathers
