Chopped Sump - Reduced Capacity
Hi,
I've chopped my zetec sump to gain ground clearance. However, in doing so I have lost approx 1litre of oil capacity.
Is this going to cause me a major headache with oil starvation.
If so, would fitting an in-line oil cooler help with this?
Cheers
Stephen

i dont know if it *will* cause you problems but i would fit extra capacity in the form of an oil cooler to be on the cautious side as in my experience
anything that can go wrong..............................well im sure you know the rest

surely if you put an oil cooler in, that gets you another litre of oil in the system, but it doesnt put it in the sump where it needs to be, unless
you'll have a pick up in the cooler as well.
you may always have a spare litre of oil in it, but as far as i can see, you might as well stick a litre bottle of oil under your seat.
wouldnt you be better grafting a "side tank" onto your sump?
feel free to correct me

Its normal practice to have the sump oil circulating through the cooler so it is probably more effective than the bottle under your seat.
