What carbs???

A question I hope someone can help me with. I have a 1300 crossflow with 40 thou stamped on the piston (I can only presume it will be a 1340?) It has a KCBCF3 sports road/rally kent cam 10.5mm lift 284 duration power band 2500 to 7000. Lighten and balanced flywheel. No idea about what or if the crank has anything done to it.My question is would twin 40`s be too much or would I be better sticking with a 32/36. Your comments to my problem would be much appreciated.

Ricky,

I've just removed pretty much exactly that engine from my Fury (Want a spare?). I originally had a 32/36 DGV on there but replaced it with twin 40s. TBH, I didn't notice a huge difference in power just from the change in carbs.

Twin 40s won't be too much, but you'll probably need something like 27/28mm chokes in there.

TBH, these engines run fine on both - the 32/36 doesn't really strangle it at all. Tuning of the advance curve makes the biggest difference.

Personally, I'd happily run with either option option but would definitely save up and fit electronic ignition - no more resetting the points gap every month or 2 and you can tune it to exactly the curve you want.
