cvh engine block capacity

How can you tell the difference between the 1.6 cvh block and 1.8 cvh block.

just above the oil filter you should find 16 or 18 cast into the block.

I can not seem to find any marking around this area.
Is there any other way of telling.

You may calculate displacement by measuring Bore and Stroke.

Not sure I remember any FWD 1800s but the Sierra 1800 have a distributor cap mounted on the timing belt cover, the Escort etc 1300 and 1600 had a proper distributor on the flywheel end of the engine.

Only RWD blocks have engine mounting bosses cast into the block in symmetrical positions adjacent to the centre main bearing location.

Problem I have is the head is a 1.6 but logbook say 1849cc so not sure what the block is will check the rwd mounting points, I am right to think the oil filters are in different places.

IIRC the 1.8 CVH is something like 1769cc so looks like you may have an american block 1.9 cvh which I think was was a popular Escort upgrade at one point. Think that should be 1859cc though.
