Oil Temp' sensor location?
Dear collective brain, you thoughts please.
1800 Zetec Engine oil temperature sensor location.
Option 1
I believe this can be taken from the block by removing one of the star type plugs in the block.
If this is the case, which is the preferred plug?
Option 2
I think a sensor can be fitted into an adapted sump plug.
Which of these two methods is likely to give the most accurate and consistent readings?
Thanks

Block will be the most consistent, and fit and forget.
In the sump plug is a bit low really,if your fitting in the sump you would want it about half way up your oil level in the sump.
Also you need to mess about unplugging wiring if you've got it in your sump plug when you come to drop oil.

There should be a plug about 4 inches back from the oil pressure sender on the offside of the block

I asked VDO directly about putting the sensor in the sump drain hole and they replied absolutely not.
