C20XE stalling under sudden acceleration
hi following my last post in getting my red top running, (car still up on axle stands) i am finding that under hard and sudden acceleration its
coughing and then stalling. i have wondered if it is poor fuel as it has been sitting in there for a couple of years, so am in the process of emptying
the tank, and changing the fuel filter. so.....
1. the fuel coming out of the tank is a horrible brown, so assuming rust has made its way in. Will i be ok after the fuel and filter change?
2. is there anythig else in should check?
thanks as always for any help!
really enjoying working on the f27 again!
cheers
matt

Steel or Ally fuel tank ?
Are you running carb's or injection ?
That fuel is scrap after that period of time

Fuel will be no good hence the cutting out.
Drain and flush the tank and lines to get rid of the brown crap. You might find the tank has rusted beyond use so check it out before filling again

Great. When you say flush, is that just pump it out, or is there a product to use.
Will it damage the engine if I run it with this tank?

Frosts sell all you need to clean and seal a steel tank FROSTS

The real answer is to replace with an ally tank.

Flush it clean not just pump it out.
I'd probably just use petrol

Thanks everyone. Sounds good to me! Will probably bite the bullet and get an ally one. Any good suppliers you can recommend for a good price?
