I Hate Plumbing...

Finally managed to squeeze 10 minutes in the garage. Kinda wish I hadn't as
I'm now a little lost with NPTF, BSP etc etc.

Does anyone know the plumbing sizes for the standard zetec senders below?

  1. Oil Pressure (1/4nptf?)
  2. Water Temperature (???) - there's 2 in the plastic thermostat housing - both look the same size

In these holes, I need to fit now:

  1. ETB Oil Pressure Sender (1/8 nptf?)
  2. ETB Water Sender (1/8 nptf?)
  3. Emerald Water Sender (10 / 12 x 1.5mm?)

Does anyone know a good source of converters - preferably online as I hate
trying to explain myself when I don't know what I'm talking about!

Help!!! (And Gratitude in Advance)

Stephen

Just ignore the SWMBO.... Instead Train her to bring you mugs of Coffee with Hob Nobs and a Sandwich in the morning, and Tea and Rich Tea bikkies with a nice slice of cake in the afternoon.
You know when they are really on the ball... Its when they bring you a couple of sheets of kitchen roll to handle the food, so you dont have to leave the garage to wash you hands.

Mine a star... but its taken 20 years to train her.. but its worth it.

I fitted the standard senders I got with my CAI/Smiths guages. Have you tried yours yet? The water temp sender (for the guage) fitted without an adaptor. The oil presure sender I fitted using a "T" piece so I could keep the warning light switch, I thought this a good idea as watching the guage all the time is a no no. On both counts I would have thought ETB should be able to advise re thread size on such a common engine.

When I fitted the Emerald sender (the upper fixing in the thermo housing) it was the wrong thread so I sent off the housing to them and they supplied an adaptor which they might be able to supply as a part now.

If all else fails cross thread it in and smoother in silicon if it leaks!

Oops sorry thought I was on the Cateringvan board.

Zetec - thanks for that; will call Emerald & ETB but (unsurprisingly) they're shut for the weekend - and I'm the impatient sort.

Unfortunately, not 1 of my senders fits the standard holes.

The ETB temperature sender flops around in the hole, as does the pressure sender.

The Emerald temperature sender is plain too big

Smallish problem but frustrating...
