Sierra Dif Bolt
Hi All
Anyone know where I can get a 1/2" x 8" bolt for the top diff mount from?
Realised at the weekend the one in mine is M12 meaning the diff knocks on and off the power!
Cheers
Ben

Threaded bar
Threaded bar is your best option.

Guess I better check!
TBH when I felt the play (and knew it was a metric bolt) I just assumed it should be 1/2"
I'll measure it and if I have to make a custom one it will be a lunchtime job on the work lathe!
Thanks

the ford original bolts are grade 10.9 and I suspect that the diff should really be held in place by clamping force you'll get when the bolts
are properly torqued up.
on mine the bolts aren't a loose fit in the holes before torquing them, but they aren't super tight either so I'd guess a fairly
typical 12.1 or 12.2mm hole

I'm pretty sure that it is torqued up properly but will check later.
The bottom is fine but there is a little bit of play in the top one meaning it knocks on and off the power
The final solution is to make a bracket from the 2 rear bolts to the chassis but that is relying on the threads (in tension) to stop the rock and
that's not ideal...
Cheers for the advice, I'll let you know what that outcome is if the car hasn't washed away in this rain!!!!

Are you sure the diff brackets aren't cracked where they are welded to the chassis?
