I started off planning to use a 2.0 DOHC. It was injection and my friend is using a carb version of the same engine to build his kit at the moment. I
switched to using a 2.0 carb pinto in the end, i could find next to nothing about tuning the DOHC and i read many times they can fail after 100,000
miles or something like that. Basically i found everything to be pinto friendly, ordering parts, fitting things etc etc.

I also got a dohc donor. Apparently only needed a head gasket. Later found the bores to be porous. Engine had done approx 100K so backs up the theory
that they are not long lived. I was later advised to stay well clear of the dohc. Pinto much better (stronger) and very tuneable. Ive gone for
injected pinto instead. Only problem is that good pinto prices seam to be increasing. Took me a while to find one.
DOHC is cheap if youve got one but your stuck with it as it is and it could fail if driven hard.
IHTH.
Darren.

Nasty chain that drives the cams also has a habit of breaking when revved hard.
Drive fast, don't look back!

The Con rods fail at gudgeon pin end @ circa 100,000 miles.
