Mounting a RX8 Gearbox
Hi Guys
Has anybody mounted a Mazda RX8 6 speed gearbox in a Locost chassis, If so what mounts did you use? Do you have any pictures?
Kind Regards

I looked into this a while off and trial fitted the box and copied this mount.
Rx8box
bolts into the chassis underneath. Then I thought I could have it to bolt inside the tunnel so modified it to have uprights on it the bolt from inside
the cab. Didn't work out so need to make another.
Thanks

That's not my car it's a guy I'd spoke to on a forum ages ago who was doing a eco boost to rx8 conversion. No idea on car but
I'd say anglia as a guess.

I am thinking the 5 speed rx8 box looks a better bet for fitment to a Locost.

Have you got one in yet ?
How did a T9 stand up to your turbo ? Cheers...

It’s my anglia 105e. I canned this idea and made up a rear mount using the usual cortina mount, just happened to line up with one of the cross
members. Pics on my build thread, link in signature.

Actually run the mt75 box on the turbo it's a bit stronger than the type 9 but has been great so far. Which is surprising. I've done about
22 track days. Which is about 4800 miles total including my road driving.
Have trial fitted the box and engine into the Westy but had an issue with prop being a few inch too long and I didn't want to remove it.

Thanks for the info. I used the mt75 in my last build as I new it would handle what ever I put through it. I have a 30 year old T9 in this one and
doubt it will last long with 250/250 through it.

Ye agreed. Other thing with the mt75 is it is a little narrower. I'm. Only running 269 now on 14psi of boost so the rx8 box would be fine. Plus
ratios are much better if you ignore 1st.
Good luck pal. Get in touch if I can help. The mt75 allowed me to out a bigger charge cooler up front..

The rx8 5 speed looks a little narrower than the mt75, Is that not the case ? 6 speed looks wider.

The 6 speed is less than an inch wider in the places it with hit a Westfield tub and an inch wider toward the prop. So shouldnt worry me. Sorry
I've not seen a 5 speed but I thought the case was the case but I've not researched them at all sorry pal.

Now making this rwd, I don’t think there will be much left by the time I am done as I am changing the inlet, exhaust mani, sump, alternator.
I chose the water to air charge cooler setup as it was going in a midi. Can I ask why you use it over a front mount air to air intercooler as I am
weighing up my options there as-well, thanks again.

We used the space at the front to fit a charge cooler and 2 rads in front of the normal radiator for space. I've removed one of the rads from
the charge cooler as it made little difference to the temps. Especially when we use ice in the expansion tank before we race it. Gets air temps down
to 23c on a hot day. Which is impressive after 2 hours at a track.
