Engine package
Hi everyone. Its been a very long time since iv been here. Where to start?
I have basically changed my mind and want to take the GPZ900 out of the car and buy a 2L zetec (new) amd put that in turn the key and go.
Iv been looking around on the Web and found a few sites I can get the engine from, but i want to buy of one shop all in one go with no messing around.
I need engine, engine mounts, prop shaft and gearbox.
Kit spares seems to be a good shop. Is there a better one that I've missed.

Kit spares might not be the cheapest solution, but from my dealings with them they are very knowledgeable, helpful and willing to offer after sales
support.
If money isn't an issue go there in my opinion

Thanks Daf.
I did notice they're not cheap, but who is now days.
Have you heard of http://www.kitcarparts-scotland.co.uk/ .
Are they any good?
They seem to do bike engine kits, with a few miles on them, that just go straight in plug and play job done.
And same with car engines.

You can buy a very nicley finished car for the price of a new turnkey drive line.
But having ordered a few nice bits from kitspares / Gbs I have no complaints.
2.0 zetec £1000
Sump, there own £300 Raceline £500
Induction, there plenum and omex ~£1000 and there throttle bodies and omex ~£2000
A new hd T9 gearbox is well over a grand.
There clutch and flywheel package ~£500+
Full exhaust ~£500+
Plus the little bits
Expect £6k+

Yep the engine is always the cheap bit!
Maybe go MX5 route. Engines and gearboxes are pretty cheap and designed to be fwd.
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure

Am better off just buying a running MX5 and then just take the engine, gearbox and loom out.
Kingster thanks for advice.

Thats what I did with mine. The car cost very little and everything worked fine. I also used steering column, swithes, instruments, fuel pump and fuel
gauge sender and instruments as well. Oh and gearboxx and prop shaft (modded to fit Sierra diff. It meant my total donor package cost £360 and the
bits I didn't want I sold for £560!
It's exactly what I would do next time but would probably choose a 1.8 engine. If you do go 1,6 beware 95 - 98 they only had 88bhp in the uk.
Before and after 110 bhp. 146 with the 1.8.

Kingster thanks for advice.
And then sell what’s left over to get most of your money back

I would start with how much power and torque you want and go from there.
If you can settle for a second hand mx5 lump them why not a second hand zetec. Or even a new zetec and compromise on the conversion parts.

Money is not so much the issue, within reason. Its mainly the wife. She's the type that believes in working to save loads of money to then die
and let your grand kids enjoy it.
Buying a running car would be a lot easier I think, take it out of one and put it in the other. Obviously doing the odd mod here and there. Its an
impossible task with the wife moaning, making a catch 22. If I buy all new and the items required, it comes at a high cost. If I go the cheap option
and get a running car she then moans about the space and mess am taking over and making.

I have thought about it. At least then I'll end up with half, at the moment she has all of it.
