Quick Exhaust Question
Hi guys,
Is it a must that the pipe lengths of the headers between the manifold and collector are the same length or is it a minuscule difference?
Planning out the exahaust system for my 2.0l Silver top Haynes Roadster
Cheers!

You wont notice the different on the road if they are several inches different in length.
Most important is the right diameter and the right order of magnitude of length and configuration (4-2-1 or 4-1)

Hi ya,
Was looking at 3" dia?
Idea is 4 - 1 and 1 and 4 cylinder slightly longer than 2 and 4.
Sound ok?
Cheers,

3" is way too big for a 2.0 N/A engine. 2.25" is about right or 2.5" at most I'd say.

Hi ya,
Yeah I have been reading that. It seems that manifold pipes at 1.75" and 2.25" seems to be the way to go.

1.75" primaries is plenty big enough for a 4 pot 2 litre.
2.5" single for the rest. Or into 2" first if you are doing 4-2-1
For comparison, my 600hp 6 litre v8 ran 1 7/8" primary headers into dual 3". Turning to 7500rpm. Any bigger killed torque and made no
difference to peak power

Hi ya,
Struggling to find a decent 4 - 1 at 2.5. Most seem to be 2.25. Wouldn't be an issue 2.25 I dont think?

I will be running headers into 2.250" Main...
Apparently that was stock for a 5.0 Ford Mustang.
That is 2.250" for 2.5 lt runing at 7 K RPM Max...
i don´t remember if there was any cross pipe on the original setup.
HTH.
Beware of what you wish.. for it may come true....

For a 2.0 zetec i was told
1 ¾” primaries, 26” long, 4:1 2 3/8” tailpipe.
