Minor scratch on diff pinion flange sealing face
So I've been replacing my diff pinion oil seal.
Upon removal of the flange, I noticed a very minor scratch on the surface of the sealing face on the flange shaft. I'm not sure if this could
have caused the leak.
It really is very shallow, and a couple of rubs with 1200grit wet and dry saw it disappear very quickly. My feeling is, it'll be fine to reuse,
however, I'm not sure what kind of finish to return to the shaft - should I polish it up, or is 1200 grit wet and dry sufficient?

Any photos?
What does the rest of the surface look like?
Provided it's not going to abrade the surface of the seal and cause another leak I'd probably be tempted to leave it as is and put it back
together.

If it disappeared using 1200 wet and dry I doubt it’s worth worrying about. Not exactly the most abrasive grade of paper
