Exhaust Guard
Hi guys,
So my car has external CAT etc and has a gaurd over it and also the silencer. What have you done to allow the edges not fail IVA etc? Rubber edging
would melt lol

I think most people use rolled edges, I've not used a guard, and my exhaust passed the IVA test fine.

Hi ya,
I guess for IVA then I could just simply take the guards off?

I split a piece of aluminum tube to put over the offending edge. , see below.

You got me there, it was back in 2005.
I would guess 8mm aluminium tubing from B&Q. I'm trying to remember how I made the cut...but I think it was with a nibbler like the one
below.

I made an exhaust guard from a sheet of ali that covers both the silencer and cat before it. It has rubber edging and it hasn't melted yet in
over 1000 miles It's not the prettiest thing, bbut it works and doesn't burn my passenger's legs.
