X-flow flywheels

In the regulations for the 750MC race series it says the minimum legal weight for the clutch & flywheel assembly of the 1300GT x-flow is 10.5kg but that material cannot be removed from areas other than those specified by Ford for balancing.

My 1300GT clutch & flywheel weigh 14kg so that's an awful lot of material that would have to be taken off to get anywhere near that 10.5kg minimum. Plus, my mate's dad (who's rebuilding the engine for me because i proved last season that i'm hopeless at it) worked for Ford for 30 years and says they never specified any locations for balancing because that's not something they as an OEM would ever do, even at a dealership during service/repair.

My question is then: if Ford never specified an area, where can we legally take material off, and is it even sensible/safe to remove that amount of material?

Could it just be that somewhere there's some obscure variant of the x-flow engine with a super-light flywheel as original equipment?

Any help/advice greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Rob

From very dim and distant memory I seem to recall different capacities of Kent engines used different weights of flywheels. Somebody here might know more and be able to confirm or otherwise.

I seem to recall that the 1100 was lighter due to engine not needing much weight for smooth idle.

Dim memory though now.

What is the lightest I can go on a 1600 X Flow F/Wheel. Car intended for drags and where do I take it off.
