More power from 1.8 Zetec

One for the tuners and engine specialists. Looking to find additional horses and torques from a 1.8 Blacktop Zetec. Engine is currently to following spec

Jenvey ITBs
Newman PH2 cam
Gas flowed/ported head
4/2/1 manifold
Lightened Flywheel
Electric water pump
Raceline Sump
Oil cooler
Pectel ECU
Cold air intake

Currently making 178bhp (northampton RR) with pretty good torque curve, can't remember the exact numbers though. I can't go up in capacity or forced induction but everything else is free. So what are the thoughts on where to go with this?

A more extreme cam (Newman ph2 is fast road?) maybe.
A well designed 4 into1 exhaust might get you more bhp at the expense of a bit of torque?
Remove some weight. In a 500kg car, saving 2kg is the same improvement in bhp/tonne as gaining 1bhp. If you can't lose it from the car then how about your waist line?

ARP bolts and up the revs?
Different cam, vernier pulleys and valve springs to suit cam and pocketed pistons if you need it?
Dry sump and raise the revs some more?

I like the idea Adi has and make it lighter. Carbon prop?

Weight is always a factor, and yes the prop shaft is a good idea. Any recommendations where to go for carbon/lightweight prop shafts? Already have the lighter weight CV joints, 2 piece discs etc.

ARP head and big end bolts have been done. Currently have the redline set at 7400 but generally use up to 7100, unless I need a little extra on a long straight or holding a gear between corners. The only problem with going up to a PH3 cam or other higher lift/duration cam is that they recommend going to one piece lifters on the blacktop and that starts to get complicated and expensive. I suppose that is my conundrum. Better cam profiles will probably work with higher RPMs, and that then entails pistons and con rods etc, along with the aforementioned cam followers. Any idea how much extra power that might enable?

my zetec is very similar, if not identical spec to yours and making 175hp, so good to know for me!

When i spoke to Northampton Motorsport when they first setup my ECU, they said going up in cam profile will get you nearer to 200hp, but thats about your limit on them

Thats interesting. I went for the ph2 cams as they would still work with shims, albeit with some re shimming which is a miserable process(!) Going for a more aggressive cam, which I'd be happy to do as it's a track only car, looks like it involves quite a bit more work with the cam followers, and did not look simple. Has anyone here got experience of fitting PH3/4/5 cams?

And whether or not piston con rod changes would be necessary?

May be worth having a chat with Prodev Engineering. Usually with the more agressive cams on the zetec you need to machine the head too so the lobes clear

Gearbox ratios and suspension set-up been sorted?

Take as much weight out of the car as possible (within the rules?)
