x-flow angle

when installing a x-flow (1300 with 2v webber, standard on ghia), am i right in thincking that the venturies of the carbereter that need to be vertical, or should it be that the to of the block is horisontal?

Also, i have herd that the block is ideal off set 3/4inch to the near side, but this means that on a book chassis the front UJ would hit the side of the trasmission tunnel?

Q1: if the carb is reasonably close to horizontal then it doesn't matter much - when compared to acceleration & decelleration a bit of tilt is irellevant!

Q2: Mark out the chassis centreline. Drop a line down vertically from the centre of the crank pulley. The line should be 19mm (3/4" ) to the nearside of the centreline. The engine should be parallel to the centreline. I'd be very surprised if this put the propshaft anywhere near to the tunnel side.

Happy building!

David
