Which rolling road - East Midlands
As I have mentioned elsewhere I want to take my car for tuning at a rolling road that understand weber carbs properly (no max power types thanks).
I had originally intended to take the car to John Noble's in Chesterfield but was told that although he is very good, he is also very expensive
and not particularly personal.
I have found two other rolling roads within driving distance. They are:
Northampton Motorsport - Northampton
http://www.northamptonmotorsport.com/
John Wilcox - Hinkley (Leics)
http://www.wilcoxengines.demon.co.uk/
I have spoken to a bloke at Northampton Motorsport and was impressed with his apparent knowledge and willingness to talk to me at length about my
requirements.
Has anyone any experience of any of the above three companies ? Good, bad or other. Or know of somewhere else I should try ?
thanks

Don't know about their Rolling Road, but I've bought several bits and bobs for my crossflow from Wilcox Engines over the last couple of
years.
IMHO, what he doesn't know about ford engines isn't worth knowing - only person I've rung up to order a thermostat from and not been
able to get off the phone for 10 minutes as he offloaded years worth of advice (and he didn't even stock what I was after). Seriously nice,
helpful person.
Specialises in race cars rather than road, though and not sure who mans his rolling road.

Been to northampton rolling road for power runs when i had my cav gsi on the road. They are good, clean workshop, loads of equipment. I'd
consider using them if i was close by.

I'm just South of Loughborough. If the weathers OK I don't mind driving a bit further for the right person to work their magic on my
engine.

I went to Northampton motorsports and the guys there are great, lots of time to advice you if you have any problems and they did a cracking job on my
webers and timing.
I also used them to setup my suspension bits castor, toe etc as my bumpsteer was a bit mad, since then my Indy cruises on rails round corners, had an
early detection of loose knuckles on my steering rack as well. The guys there are Steve and Troy, both good guys .
..no I don't have share in the business

i would recomend Dennis at D vessey vehicle repairs , hes always got westies or something like that on his rolling road - hes also got an engine dyno
.
last thing i saw in there was a westie with bike engine that needed mapping right from square one .
Of course the engine of the dyno at the moment is a T5 for one of my customers
only trouble is hes in barnetby , just of the M180

Mountsorrel, about 10mins off the A6.
It was Troy I spoke to a Northampton Motorsport, they seem regarded quite highly by people here so I think I will give them a try
thanks for everyone's help on this, I let you now how I get on.

How much are you looking at for a rolling road session to set up twin webers? The ones i have are all set up for my engine, jets etc... (i bought them
with the engine) but i think when i get it on the road it may need a bit of tuning to get it set up nicely. Northampton isnt too far away from me, so
let us know how you get on GMTBH

Northampton people quoted me approx two and a half hours at £65 per hour to set the webers up. Not cheap but worth it for a good job.

I live near Hinckley, so wilcox is just down the road, BUT I will be going to Sid's Tune shop in Walsall. I know quite a few people from work
who have been there and everyone raves about Sid. A few have also used Wilcox but are now converted to Sid!
