Pinto Engine number
Probably a simple one but could anyone tell me where the engine number is on SOHC Pinto 2.0

Under the exhaust manifold and at the back of the altenator

That sounds like block markings to me.
The engine number is on a flatened piece of block in the position mentioned earlier,mine is two letters and five numbers and are stamped on.
The letters and numbers stamped are about 6mm in height and the flatened area is roughly about 25mm in height and 80mm long.
There might well be a pic of an engine number in a haynes manual if you have one just to give you a guide of the area to look in.

Got it!
Took a bit of uncovering had to rub off my nice new paint but got it two letters and 5 numbers.

no problem,sometimes a bit of chalk along the numbers helps to read them
