Sierra 4x4 engine compatability?

Calling from the states here. I've long wondered about a 4x4 Locost, and have heard that the Sierra tranny's an excellent choice. The Cossie isn't available over here, and I wondered if that tranny might be cross compatable with a Zetec or other engine sold on both sides of the pond.
