Type 9 probs

1- The input shaft on my type 9 has some sideways movement in it. I know this isnt right however the bearings arnt rough or anything. Have any of you got a box like this and is the bearing easy to change?

2- Does the reverse require a push down on the lever??

LOl thanks.. I did wonder about the detent. Is this easy to push down when fitted with the gear lever cranked backwards to clear the dash? I find it hard to do with it on a stand. Its messed up my plans for an extension. I was gonna nick jonbeedles idea..

You can bang the detent out of the gearbox if you want, as long as you make some device that stops you accidentally putting it into reverse when changing down...

Let me know if you want to know how to get the detent out (it's easy, but there's a little procedure that can help)

If you've got play in the shaft then its likely to be a worn caged bearing between the input shaft and the main shaft that is faulty. This is a bit of a cow to change as it requires a complete box strip.

enjoy.
