Electric reverse

Hi folks,
I'm thinking about creating an electric reverse using a bike starter....

What ring gear should I use (how many teeth etc) and where could I get one...

or should I use one off a bike engine...bit small maybe? hence the question...

cheers
Colin

How about a little scooter motor, the ones the biddies use for shopping or a portable drill type. Jon's fitted one to the GT1 but I don't know what motor he used.

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

I heard someone mention a CBR1000 starter motor, but I don't think I've seen it implimented.
I'm kinda thinking about an electric reverse myself as it's a requirment for hillclimbs and sprints, which I'd love to have crack at.

My R1 starter motor is on a ratchet. So it does the wrong thing for a reverse. That's why I made a setup using a car starter motor - the solenoid pulls the gears into mesh ONLY when yu're reversing!
At the mo. I'm trying to get the gear laser or water jet cut - but it's proving a little difficult!

Hi Colin

Have a look ad Ed's website www.westicles.net as he did his using a Subaru starter motor. He does mention the ring-gear I think, but I have a feeling it was a bespoke item. Alternatively have a word with Gordon Griffin on the BEC list (an RGB racer), he was making electric reverse kits for quite a few of the RGB, but I dont think he has time any more so may well be happy to share info on his setup.

BTW, Im sure you emailed / u2u'd it to me but Ive lost your address again, can you u2u me it again please!
