Pinto - bike carbs?
Has anyone fitted bike carbs to a pinto?
My car has plenty of power at higher revs, but is not great at low speed running and tends to peter out approaching junctions.
I think this is a weber 45's problem, and as 45's seem to go for decent money on ebay, I am thinking that a swap to bike carbs won't
cost too much.
Thoughts anyone?
Cheers
Mark

Getting the Manifold crossover from Pinto to Bike Carb would / could be difficult.
Scot's do it better in Kilts.

By the prices that some matched pairs of 45's have been going for on EBay, why not save yourself the hassle of mucking about with bike carbs and
invest in a Weber Alpha injection kit or something similar. All really depends how much you are willing to spend I guess.

Thinking of going to Bogg Brothers. They can do me a manifold.
All up cost is probably not much more than I can get for my 45's say about £400.
I wasn't thinking of spending a grand or so even though the idea of Fuel injection is obviously very appealing - unless anyone knows where i can
get a setup for say £500

If your thinking of spending a grand, plus the £400 you could get for your carbs plus whatever you get for your engine and box i would defo fit bike
carbs.......................................
they would still be attached to the bike engine though.......
sorry, miss read, you "wasn't" thinking of spending a grand.

Yes just to confirm I am not in a position to chuck serious money at this just now
I had given a very small amount of thought to diy fuel injection by picking up bits here and there and going down the megasquirt route, however I
don't know what i am doing with it and it may take a while to get it set up properly.
I want it to be a reliable set up from the off as I don't want it to affect my hill climb season. I am told that bike carbs will give this.
Keep the comments coming though
Cheers

As in Electronic components? I'll be getting mine from RS or Farnell tagged onto a work order I would expect
I have both MegaJoltLiteJunior and Megasquirt PCB's already, just need to get my arse in gear and get the bits to build them!
I have all the car hardware, got from local scrappy.

Hi Guy's
I was at Bogg bros this week and i looked at there bike carb conversions and to be honest they looked excelent
They had half a dozen cars in there been converted including an MK Indy with a pinto
The manifolds looked top quality and the look of the install was very neat
They offer a full drivein-drive out conversion for £682 all in and the power diffrance was amazing on a standard engine
Hope this helps
