Gearbox shot?

I was working on my alfa engine and gear box last night when I noticed something that strikes me as very strange.

When I turn one of the disks on the outside of the gearbox that the axel/drive shafts attach to the disk the other side turns in the opposite direction. This isn't right is it? Any advice gratefully received as if I need to source a new engine and gearbox I'd rather find out now than later.

Oh the engine and gearbox in question are both from an alfa 33 cloverleaf FWD car. The plan is to put them in a mid engine chassis.

Make sure you use TIG if they're alloy!

.......and put a couple of bolts through afterwards as a safety measure........

Another good idea if you are after clean uncluttered lines is to trim the bonnet carefully to size then glue it down with PU adhesive, that way you dont have bonnet catches spoiling the look.

another trick is to glue those pesky front cycle wings to the tyres, saves the hassle of wing brackets etc

theres always one who has to talk it that little bit too far!!!!!

on a serious note bringing the exhaust round to the front and pointing through rad grill will improve airflow thro rad even when stationary.

Of course if you're ever low on petrol you'll need to drive faster to get to the garage before you run out.
